The Bone Fish Story

From the early years to the present day

Just like many of the greatest businesses of today, Bone Fish Ltd started out in the back bedroom of a small house in the south of Manchester with a very small team and an even smaller investment. Now, not even a decade later, the company has grown to become one of the most - if not 'the most' - prestigious and prosperous white label dating providers in the world. Here's how it all happened.

The early years: From 1999 to 2005

Graham Hampson and Mike Fitzgerald started out by creating the world's first-ever online dating service for students, titled 'Studentsville'. Within a year, Studentsville had gained substantial popularity amongst individuals all over the UK and as such, directors Mike and Graham decided to take the project to another level and subsequently developed 'Dating Central'. Dating Central was to become the epicenter for a large number of affiliate dating sites all around the world, and was set to encompass adult dating, general romance, gays, lesbians and pretty much anything and everything else.

In little more than a year it had over 2,800 affiliate applications and over 150,000 members across the romance, student, gay, lesbian and adult networks. In only its sixth month of trading, (approximately July 2001), the company broke even, and the following month, it generated a small profit. Due to its success, by the later part of 2001 Mike and Graham took the decision to create a newer and improved version of the service that would better comply with the latest browser standards. This service proved to be more adaptable to the ever-changing world and by September 2002, Dating Central began to generate a five figure profit on a monthly basis month.

In March 2004 the operation was moved to Gibraltar. This enabled Dating Central to offer commissions and bonuses that were 100% tax free. It was a move that also opened up a door for future expansion into the south of Europe and Africa.

April 2005 - January 2006

At its new location in Gibraltar, Dating Central progressed further and developed a 'next generation' dating application that encompassed an online admin resource centre. This allowed affiliates to have more control over their own dating and social networking sites, and allowed them to modify certain aspects of their brand without needing previous consent from Dating Central. It also changed its name to better identify its services – Bone Fish. (Our backbone, your brand). Ultimately, the whole package was designed to be much more comprehensive and user-friendly, and it allowed the company to broaden its horizons into other markets.

January 2006 - January 2008

Over the past twenty-four months and due to the volume of work and an increase in affiliates and members, Bone Fish has infinitely expanded its team, and today, not quite a decade later, boasts five departments plus a management team (Customer Services Dpt, Fraud Dpt, Affiliate Dpt, Development and Design Dpt and Communications Dpt). At present, the company is once again building upon yet another new and improved service – but this time, it will be a service that knocks all others right of the shelf. It is planned to be brought to the public's attention in the course of the year.
